Wind at your back..

Well clearly 'tis the season to be windy. This weeks riding has been plagued by heavy winds. And I don't know why this is the case but for some reason the direction of it always seems to be head-on regardless if I am northbound or heading south. The constant battering by a persistent head wind can be totally demoralizing on a bike but does make one appreciate the benefit of riding in a group or at least with a partner.  I suppose the one benefit in this kind of riding is that is will certainly make me appreciate the perfect days riding in a group! Just under a month and I will be in South Africa visiting friends and family and riding with my old mates. Hard to believe that I will be riding in wintry conditions again! But at least the Canadian winter will make anything in ZA pale into insignificance! It is just over 2 months to the 2011 TransRockies which means just over a year till we will be making the trek across country to this event. I look forward to reading all the updates from the event this year and see how it compares to other events I have competed in.

The summer weather in Canada has certainly been marked by extremes thus far. From extreme heat and humidity to some of the wildest thunderstorms I have ever experienced. I look forward to some milder weather this weekend and the opportunity to get out on the trails in my area.
