The hours are taking their toll...

Well now firmly into our training schedule for the Epic - I must say that this week I have battled to find the motivation to get out and about. I doubt you would have the same problem if you lived in a little shack on the slopes of Whistler! The biggest problem facing my routine is the lack of sleep that I am currently getting or not - I really underestimated the role of sleep in our training programme. But it is a constant juggle between family commitments, kids and work pressure really does take its toll. Tonight I hope to have an early night! Here is hoping...

Tonight is the route announcement launch for the Epic - so no doubt the airways will be alive tomorrow with commentry. Personally I am a little 'saddened' that they have gone away from the traditional route as to cover A-B distance seems much more of an acomplishment, than routes around a secion of the Western Cape - but until they announce it is a little premature to comment on it!

So far this week I have done 6,5 hours on the bike which is on target - and going for a 16 hour week. It is going to be extra hard for the remainder of the week as my partner is out of action as his bike is having a major service (shocks etc) so I am riding by myself, which will be a lot harder for the rest of the weekend. Got to cram in a few more hours this week to make the target - with a long ride on the Saturday should make up the numbers....

I am sure it will all be worth it in the end!
