It is quite sad - will all the big ambitions to record some route footage - these were the only pics that I managed to capture of Sabie. The first one is of the drive up to Sabie as you turn off the road to Nelspruit - I was feeling so excited of the prospect of the next 4-days and I feel that this is the point in the drive where I left Joburg behind. The trees here form a perfect canopy over the road - and every km was one closer to Sabie - this is for me what mountain biking is all about - heading to towns like this, which you possibly would not head to and do something that you really love

The other pic was in the chute for day 2 of Sabie Experience - I was really miserable and this point of the day - and everyone in the stalls were in such high spirits - again another experience of mountain biking I love - the comradrie amongst riders.

Hopefully my next ride - I wil have some better pics!

  1. I'd been wondering where your planned updates on the Sabie were so was gutted to hear it had gone so horribly pear shaped.d It's always horrible to bail out of a race (I've done it twice and really hated it each time!), but to bail out of the Sabie must have been really tough.

Things look a bit bleak right now as the wheels seem to be coming off the training programme but hang in there as things will come right again. It certainly sounds like you made a good call in favour of your longer term plans to complete the Epic.

    All the best
