What a week... so far! I am hungry!

I am having a really great week so far. It is only Wednesday and already, I have 10hrs under my belt for the week. The body is feeling really strong which is great! The one thing that I am finding however, is that once off my bike I am starving for the rest of the day...

My nutrition on the bike is going really well. I am doing a combination of sandwiches and carb shakes - as I imagine, this will be pretty similar to our Cape Epic routine. The carb shakes gets consumed after the 3rd hour and continues until it lasts... the sandwiches/ proper food gets eaten as and when I feel hungry (just before) or have time to take a breather. This is really working for me. After the longer rides 4hr+ I consume a carb shake straight after the ride - this seems to keep the wolves from the door! The key to successful nutrition is to train your nutrition around the same way that you will be doing for the event. I am relying on shakes as a form of nutrition as I know that I will be able to consume these easier than actual food in between meals - especially into day 4,5,6 etc.

This afternoon I am off to the MTN Bike park with the family for a little more riding! It is my first visit to the bike park so I am quite keen to see how it is...
