Lucky guys and girls...

Well my weekend on Cape Town did nothing to improve my mood - largely because I now leave here feel envious of the surroundings that they have here in the Western Cape. The wedding I attended in Cape Town allowed me a weekend in Franschhoek(wow those hills are big!). Although the universe did respond to my need for a bike - I did not managed to get hold of the kind individual who offered it to me. I did manage to get in a 2.5hr run/hike/walk on Saturday around the mountains of Franschhoek. I was very jealous to all the guys coming past me on their bikes... The weather in the Western Cape this weekend was unbelievable (read 30+ degrees) and did nothing to help my jealousy of the terrain that the locals down here have at their disposal.

Today I took a drive up Signal Hill the location for the Prologue of the Cape Epic. All I can say is - steep... very very steep. Which ever way you look here the route is very steep. I am not 100% sure of the finishing point of the Prologue - but from the viewpoint it is one hell of a climb from the rugby club! And this is only the Prologue! So again back to my green eyed monster - you guys in Cape Town do have an awesome training ground - although the weather might not always play in your favour - I think it is offset by location location location.

However, meeting up with a few mates here did re-ignite my excitement of the upcoming races. I cannot wait for Sani 2 C is it a really special race and what better way to spend 3 days than riding with a group of mates.

Thanks for all the messages of support - it does help. I am going to leave my negativity in Cape Town and face the week with fresh eyes - the days are falling fast and before we know it we will be back at the top of Signal Hill! Secretly I cannot wait!

  1. Hi Roons

Sorry about not being able to get through. I was hunting for my cell most of the weekend. It turned up in the bottom of the laundry basket in the pocket of my youngest boys shorts. He's a bit of a monkey!

    See you at the Epic.
