Logistics - Ideas for Packing

From what I have heard - it is a bit of an art to pack your bags for the Epic and I want to try and do it as organised and light as possible. One of the first things I have done is to decant all of my drink supplements into marked bags labelled for each day. Bearing in mind that I have 3 different types of drink - drunk at different times of the day (pre, during and post), that makes up for a whole stack of ziplocks! So far I have packed 24 bags and have not got to the during and post bags!! What I am then going to try and do then is to get 7 bigger zip-lock bags and pack one for each day with everything I will need for that day (kit, drinks, supplements and snacks. So all I will have to do is reach for the day 2 bag on the evening of day one. And then all of the rubbish from Day 1 will go into the old bag that I take the stuff for Day 2 out of! Makes sense...

Anyway - in theory I hope that it will be very organised. I have purchased a micro towel to save space there as well as a mini-sleeping bag - I would like to think that these will be my big ticket items. I have not found a solution for a mini-pillow - but really, that is not something that I want to skimp on. A nice pillow is essential in my books!

I must go and get some sleep - this is a sleep week and here I am at 22h50 talking about my pillow! To bed!

  1. This truly is a daunting task which is then made worse by the fact that they give you a tog bag at registration into which you must re-pack everything as it is the ONLY bag they will transport during the race.

The more I contemplate the packing the more I seem to procrastinate.
