It has to begin somewhere...

So at some point in time I had to get back into a stricter training schedule. After a very long absence from a formal training schedule I kicked off this weekend - what better day to start than the first of spring. On Saturday morning I road my anticipated commute route to work. It is a 60km road and path route to downtown Toronto which I plan to do 4 times a week. This should provide me with a great base for training schedule. The route took me just over 2 hours which I was very impressed with considering that I had been off the bike for so long. I also expect it to take a little longer during the week and once I settle into my routine.

On Sunday I did a 10km run with my family along the lakeshore of Lake Ontario which was spectacular - i am going to try and include a bit of running into my schedule as I think this will assist my overall fitness and help with my weight-loss!

So my proposed schedule will be 4 weekday rides of 2,5 - 3hrs each with a long weekend ride on one of the days plus a family outdoor activity. A run or ride to finish off the week. Which all things being equal could be a 15-hour training week which will be good.
