The things you see...

I suppose it is natural that when you spend the hours on the bike that we do that you are going to see some odd and different things. For me the one reality of spending so much time on the bike is the poor quality of riding. The amount of near misses you see on the roads is staggering. SA must be one of the few countries in the world where you can get pushed off the trail you are riding on by a taxi! Not the road, or even the verge - the trail 10m+ from the road. Needless to say I did verbalise my opinion, he did not seem to give a continental!  Last week I watched an elderly lady get out of her car in an intersection (with her handbag :)) go to a teenage pedesterian, hold her hand and walk her across the road. The teenager looked the most confused! Nobody hooted as she held up the traffic - I think they were all taken aback!

Let me not even get started on roadkill...

Anyway got wet again today on my ride but did a good three hours - I am going to try and squeeze in a gym session tomorrow as I am on kid duty (wife is travelling) so can't get out early on the bike - but that should leave me fresh for our 6hr outride on Saturday.
